Karakia tohi mo Hamiora

This is my special tree. Its only a baby like me, but will grow big and strong like me (but hopefully a lot bigger!). My parents planted my whenua (placenta) under a pohutakawa tree up on the parapara in Harataunga. My Grand Uncle Paki Harrison gave my Dad this karakia. I dont know what it means yet but I hope someone will translate it for me?

He mea hei kawenga mou,
Ki kapiti runga e!Ki kapiti raro e!
He pokanga nuku, he pokanga rangi,
Po hihiko!Po rarama!
Tiaho I roto! Marama I roto!

Tena te pou, te poutokomanawa
Tena te pou, te pou o enei kupu.
Tena te pou o tenei whenua.
Eke, eke panuku, eke Tangaroa
Whano! Whano! Haramai te toki,
Haumi e! Hui e! Taiki e!

Wassup??

How's it goin? I think I look pretty cool with my new hat. Its a little big for me but that's ok, I'll grow into it. I like clothes, they look nice and can make you even better looking (as if thats possible!)

Just another day at the beach

I love living in Harataunga (Kennedy Bay), its so beautiful here. I stay at my grandpa and grandma Hunter's house (you can see it behind Dad) We are right on the beach where you can get plenty of kaimoana (seafood) and practically live off the land (see my last post on my HUGE vege's!)I especially like taking my Mum & Dad for walks along the beach (they're so well behaved)

Just look at my vege's

I like gardening, when I get older I want to grow vege's like my grandma Margaret. Who knows? I might even be a farmer and grow paddocks of vege's like my great grandpa Harangi. I'm already off to a great start. Just look at my vege's!My courgette's are HUGE. They're nearly bigger than me!! and my kamokamo and brocoli are yummy. I cant wait till my sweetcorn and tomato's are ready. Not bad for a 1st time gardener aye?

Kia mau

Kia mau (Get ready for action)!! I am so fierce I would make a great kaea (leader) for any haka. I am only 6 1/2 months but still im practicing my haka on my parents. I dont think they've heard this one. Its called homai te kai (give me food). Wait till I get teeth!

Check out my walker

Mum & Dad got me a walker for Christmas and now they have to move everything out of my way. It's really cool it plays music it has a steering wheel like a car. I cant wait till I get my license!

Kia rite, kia mau!

My Great Grandpa Harangi Harrison was an All Black & a Maori All Black. He was selected in 1915 to play oversea's for the All Black's but he was too young to go, and again in 1935 but he had to look after his farm in Harataunge and help raise seven of his kids. Here I am in my All Black's jersey with my first rugby ball.My Great Grandpa was a half back, but at this stage I look more like a prop. There are 3 generation's in this one picture alone. One day I hope to lead the haka...."Kia rite, kia mau!!"

Plum cute

Here I am eating my first plum. It's all over my face but I think it makes me look plum cute.My Grandma Hunter picked them off our tree and they're so yummy. Hey, what are you looking at?

Last of the Mohawkins?

Grandma Hunter told Mum not to let Dad give me a mohawk. But check this out. Grandma gave me a bath and did my hair. I reckon it looks suspiciously like a mohawk. I could start my own tribe you know. What do you think?

Kia-ora!

Kia-ora! I'm just hanging around playing on my jolly jumper. I'm trying to get in shape for the All Black's but first I need to learn how to walk.

Dad & mini-Me

I love my Dad. He's so cool we like hanging out together. He likes to call me his "mini-Me."I dont know why do you??

Watch out Uncle Fred Here I come!!!

Check out me and my Dad jamming on the guitar(he's the other goodlooking one sitting next to me). Who would have thought that I would be such a prodigy?!My Uncle Freddy is awesome on the guitar too. Now how does that song go again Dad??Watch out Uncle here I come!!

Gummy smile

althougth I have no teeth yet, I still know how to make my smile sparkle.

My daddy loves me

My dad loves me to bits so I decided to put him in a photo with me check him out; he's nowhere near as cute as me.

Are you talking to me?

Although I am cute. I am blessed with manly instincts. Are you talking to me?

In the beginning

I was born on the 11th of July 2005. I was 8 pounds one of pure muscle and good looks to boot. unfortunately I had a slightly over hairy back, arms and leggs. I have managed to cover some of this up with cute layers of baby fat.
